St. Francis Children's Center - Education

Milwaukee, WI (March 15, 2018) - Schwanke-Kasten Jewelers, a family-owned jewelry store based out of Whitefish Bay and Milwaukee since 1899, has just announced that they will be supporting St. Francis Children's Center as their “education” pillar of their new four-pillar philanthropy program. The four pillars are: Education, Arts, Community and Health – which Schwanke-Kasten Jewelers’ strongly believes that E.A.C.H. of us can make a difference by giving back and working together in our Milwaukee community. The tie between Schwanke-Kasten Jewelers and St. Francis Children’s Center goes back to the creation of the organization.

Founded in 1968 by Sister Joanne Marie Kliebhan, a cousin of the third-generation owner of Schwanke-Kasten Jewelers, Malcolm Dixon, with the belief that the earlier special needs children received services, the more opportunities there would be for them to achieve success. For 50 years, the St. Francis Children’s Center has provided education, therapy and family support. Last year alone, they served over 800 children and their families in the Milwaukee area. It is their commitment to their mission of serving and educating children with special needs in inclusive environments, enabling them to reach their greatest potential that gives Schwanke-Kasten Jewelers great pride to support them.

ABOUT ST. FRANCIS CHILDREN’S CENTER: In 1968, St. Francis Children’s Center started with one belief, the earlier children with special needs received assistance, the more opportunities there would be for them to achieve success. Today, St. Francis Children’s Center is a nonprofit, non-sectarian organization that serves 800 children — from birth through high school — and their families throughout the Milwaukee area. We are a team of educators, social workers, therapists and administrators devoted to working with children of all abilities–those with special needs and those who are typically developing–to ensure that all children have the tools needed to reach their goals.
