An engagement ring setting refers to how the diamond—or center stone—is mounted to the ring. There are many ways to secure a stone, each offering its own balance of beauty, durability, and style. Prong Setting
The prong setting is the most common engagement ring style, typically featuring four or six prongs on a solitaire diamond. Jewelers favor this setting because it elevates the stone, allowing maximum light to enhance its fire and brilliance while maintaining a clean, timeless look.
Prongs can be rounded, pointed, flat, or V-shaped, and they extend upward to gently fold over the diamond, holding it securely in place. A four-prong setting reveals more of the diamond, while a six-prong setting provides extra security and makes the stone appear rounder. Because prong settings use minimal metal, the diamond remains highly visible.
However, elevated stones may snag on clothing or objects—especially for those with active lifestyles. We recommend annual inspections to ensure the prongs remain secure.

Tiffany Setting
Developed by Tiffany & Co. in 1886, the iconic Tiffany setting is a specialized six-prong design engineered to maximize light return. Cathedral Setting
The cathedral setting is known for its classic elegance. Defined by graceful arches that rise from the shank to support the center stone, this setting adds height and visual impact, making the diamond appear larger. While stunning, the added height can increase the risk of snagging on clothing or furniture.
Bezel Setting
Sleek and modern, the bezel setting is ideal for active lifestyles. Instead of prongs, a custom-fitted metal rim fully or partially encircles the center stone, offering superior protection and eliminating snagging. The tradeoff is that more metal covers the stone, slightly reducing light exposure.

Channel Setting
Channel settings are often used for smaller diamonds along the band to enhance sparkle while maintaining a smooth, secure profile. Stones are set flush between two grooves of metal, reducing snagging and increasing durability. However, cleaning within the channels and resizing can be challenging.
Pavé Setting
Similar to channel settings, pavé settings involve drilling small holes into the band and securing diamonds with tiny bead-like prongs. This technique creates exceptional sparkle and highlights the center stone more than channel settings. Pavé rings, however, are more difficult to resize.

Halo Setting
Halo settings feature smaller diamonds encircling the center stone, creating the illusion of a larger or more brilliant diamond. This style is ideal for enhancing a smaller carat or lower-quality center stone and allows for creative contrast using different gemstones or metals. While resizing can be difficult, halo settings add beauty, security, and visual impact.

Split Shank
For a modern—or classically bold—look, the split shank setting divides the band into two or more strands as it approaches the center stone. This design draws the eye inward, provides space for accent stones, and offers a striking, attention-grabbing appearance.
